Who is 124 years old and not who he claims to be?

Goldy

It’s our own Goldy Gopher! What started as the name for the first yearbook in 1888, the Gopher, and then came to life in a succession of illustrations, the iconic Gopher has adorned yearbooks, sports programs, and decades of University of Minnesota merchandise. In all this time, Goldy has never revealed his secret—his original visage is that of a stripe-tailed squirrel! Take a look at our lovable gopher from the files of University Archives: Goldy Gopher »

Developing the next generation of library leaders...

Minnesota Institute...is an important component of the Libraries’ mission. Since 1998, the Minnesota Institute for Early Career Librarians from Traditionally Underrepresented Groups is directed by Associate University Librarian for Organizational Development, Linda DeBeau-Melting. With over 200 Institute graduates, the biennial program brings together high–potential academic librarians from across the country to form a professional cohort and long-lasting friendships. The intensive one-week program held in July focuses on leadership and organizational behavior as well as critical skills such as writing for publication and grant writing.
