Show Stoppers
The Twin Cities Book Festival showcased the University Libraries’ diverse treasures—the Children’s Literature Research Collection; Minitex; Givens Collection of African American Literature; Upper Midwest Literary Archives, UmbraSearch; and the Friends of the Libraries. The booth attracted a large audience of enthusiastic visitors.

Radio KUOM comes alive … again!
Did you know the University received the first radio broadcasting license in the state of Minnesota in 1922? KUOM’s records and recordings are part of the University Archives which recently received a grant to preserve 2,000 of 11,000+ reel-to-reel tapes through digitization. Check the bi-weekly podcast for updates.

Exhibit highlight: Sticks, Straw, and Mud

The lure of land and a new, prosperous life brought many immigrants to the far reaches of the Upper Midwest territories.
This exhibit explores not only the universal perils of frontier homesteading, but the challenges of doing so as a religious and cultural minority, which ultimately shaped the successes and failures of these Jewish pioneers.
