Give up? Perhaps you can ask a member of Team Yodzis (Jonathan Hank, Max Nagarajan, Josh Tveite, and Ankan Ganguly), winners of the 10th Annual Science Quiz Bowl sponsored by the University Libraries and staff at Walter Library. Twice besting the second place team, E Pluribus Factum, Team Yodzis went undefeated throughout the 32-team double-elimination tournament, involving 125 undergrads in the College of Science and Engineering as part of their CSE Week activities.

University Libraries one of seven hubs in groundbreaking national initiative
After some two and a half years in the making, the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) has launched! DPLA will deliver millions of materials found in American archives, libraries, museums, and cultural heritage institutions to students, teachers, scholars, and YOU. Special features include a dynamic map, a timeline you can visually browse by year or decade, and an app library.
Represented in DPLA is the rich contribution of the Minnesota Digital Library (MDL) through its Minnesota Reflections digital library. As a special part of the launch, the MDL has created a fascinating online exhibit on the topic of Native Americans, titled "History of Survivance: Upper Midwest 19th Century Native American Narratives." This exhibit tells a story of extraordinary culture disruption, change, and continuity and the effect that has had on the Native population of Minnesota.

Jewish archives reunited
A portion of the archives of the Jewish Historical Society of the Upper Midwest (JHSUM) was deposited in the Libraries over a decade ago. Recently, the remainder was transferred and the entire collection gifted to the Libraries, forming a major research collection known as the Nathan and Theresa Berman Upper Midwest Jewish Archives.
According to Katherine Tane, Executive Director, JHSUM, "Our first 28 years have been spent creating one of the finest archives of local Jewish History in the country.”
The united collection on Jewish history, communities, religion, and culture in the Upper Midwest will be overseen by new archivist, Kate Dietrick, who commented, “I look forward to promoting the collection, both within the University and to the community at large, shining a light on the dynamic materials."
