SMART Students Win Big

SMART Learning Commons students and staff show off hte Goldy Gopher Student Team of the Year Award
It just goes to show, we have the best student workers on campus! Our student staff working in the Libraries’ SMART Learning Commons (in Walter Library and Wilson Library) won this year’s Goldy Gophers Golden Student Team of the Year Award. They provide tutoring, media services and support, and serve as Peer Research Consultants. Congratulations students and thanks for your hard work!

“The play’s the thing”

Interior of the original Guthrie Theater, designed by Ralph RapsonThose immortal words uttered by Prince Hamlet in the Guthrie’s first production in 1963 ring clearly as the Libraries’ announced the award of a $100,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The funds will preserve the legacy of the Guthrie Theater whose archives reside in our Performing Arts Archives.

Friends and foodies!

Megan Kocher, curator of the Doris Kirschner Cookbook Collection, Deborah Madison, Patricia and Richard Kirschner FamilyBoth were found in abundance at the Friends of the Libraries Annual Celebration. Featured speaker and acclaimed cookbook author Deborah Madison extolled virtues of fresh vegetables and her love of cooking and the cookbooks she explored in the Doris Kirschner Collection at Magrath Library on the St. Paul campus. The dinner menu was chosen from recipes in her many cookbooks and prepared by the chefs of D’Amico Catering.
