A freshman's best friend is . . .

freshmen at orientation. . . the library of course! Our research show that freshmen who use the library in the first semester earn better grades and are more likely to return for second semester than those who don’t.

And there’s another great reason — there are 13 libraries to choose from! Those are a couple of messages provided at Freshmen Orientations held throughout the summer.

Labor of love

Each spring, Deborah Boudewyns, Arts and Architecture Librarian, works with a graduate student or intern to create a gallery exhibit in the T.R. Anderson Gallery (located on the 4th floor of Wilson Library). From research to material selection to mounting the exhibit itself, the student/intern creates a visual and educational feast for the eyes.

This year’s theme, Labor in the Eyes of Artists, takes a bold look at the subject through magazines, zines, and posters. Closing reception July 10, 4:00 to 7:30 p.m.

McCollister Collection moves

Books and libraryThe main floor of Wilson Library will be under construction for the next several months and getting a well-deserved facelift.

In preparation for the dusty and noisy work to come, the McCollister Collection for Contemporary Literature has been moved to the basement foyer adjacent to Academic Blend coffee shop in its own cozy nook. When the work is complete, look for the collection in its new home on the main floor.
If you’ve missed any of the fabulous public programs this year, you have a second chance! Videos for Will Shortz, Wendy Lehr, and other treats await. Watch on our YouTube channel.
