Applause, applause!

MusicThe past year saw a number of prestigious additions to the Performing Arts Archives — each a jewel in the cultural crown of the Twin Cities. We are proud they have entrusted the University of Minnesota with their unique and acclaimed histories.

New collections:

  • Minnesota Opera
  • Park Square Theatre
  • Children's Theatre Company

How to survive finals week?

Gabe the therapy dogIt’s tough enough to study for finals, finish writing papers, and go without sleep. Add to that the Arctic mix of frigid temperatures, which made walking across campus a challenge and you get the picture — it was tough.

But once again our libraries stepped in to help by offering extended hours and stress-reducing activities, including video games, crossword puzzles, and Gabe the therapy dog, pictured above at the Bio-Medical Library.

From the Pre-Modern World to trailblazing academic programming

MapThe James Ford Bell Library is partnering with the Centers for Medieval Studies and Early Modern History to re-imagine how graduate education and research can be conducted across disciplines and departments.

Funded by the Mellon Foundation, the new consortium also will be linking to the University’s broader digital initiatives. The newly scanned "found" maps from the Bell Library’s NEH-funded project will play a key role in the three-year initiative.
