Downton Abbey imageMembers of the Vital Aging Network—an organization for people interested in living vital lives and contributing to vital communities—many of whom are Downton Abbey fans, came to Elmer Andersen Library for a lively Roadshow presentation by Curator Tim Johnson. “The Earl’s Library: Private English Libraries in the Age of Downton Abbey” revealed the types of books one would expect in an English country home of that era and even exposed a secret door in a bookcase in Highclere Castle, famed backdrop for the PBS series!

It was exhilarating!

Boxes of archival material being processed by the Tretter CollectionHave you ever wondered how a “collection” becomes an archive? When Jean-Nickolaus Tretter donated his collection of materials related to GLBT history in 2000, countless boxes were shipped to Elmer Andersen Library. Transforming thousands of boxes of material into a usable, accessible archive is the responsibility of Lisa Vecoli, Curator of the Tretter Collection. Find out how she and her team have tackled this huge but important undertaking.

Welcome Claire Stewart!

Claire Stewart, Associate University Librarian for Research and Learning As new Associate University Librarian for Research and Learning, Claire oversees the librarians who directly serve the University’s colleges and patrons divided into five categories: Physical Science & Engineering; Arts & Humanities; Social Science & Professional Programs; Agricultural, Biological, & Environmental Science; and Access & Information Services. She most recently served at Northwestern University Library as director for the Center for Scholarly Communication and Digital Curation and head of the Department of Digital Collections.
