Write on!

writing implementsIf you’ve ever experienced writer’s block, you know how frustrating it can be. That’s why National Novel Writing Month was created — to encourage "just get it out" by writing a 50,000 word first draft in exactly one month.

Among this year’s 306,080 writers, a dozen University faculty, staff, and students joined the Libraries’ Write-In held on four consecutive Fridays in Wilson Library. Perhaps they’ll be a fortunate as previous participant Sara Gruen, whose edited draft became "Water for Elephants."

Reading for pleasure in a research library?

Our CollectionsYes! The Robert and Virginia McCollister Collection for Contemporary Literature was established in Wilson Library to encourage reading just for the love of it.

And now, Wilson staff recently launched an ongoing exhibit titled "From Our Collections," which features books recommended by staff, faculty, students and other patrons. Books are changed bi-monthly; January’s theme is Cozy Up With a Book! Sounds like a great idea, wouldn’t you agree?
